Check it
Open your Downloads folder. Type cmd in the address bar and press Enter. Then run:certutil -hashfile PlexusX-Setup-2.1.3.exe SHA256The answer must match the SHA-256 above, letter for letter.

Why 2 of 67 scanners flag it

  • VirusTotal checks one file with 67 virus scanners. 65 found nothing. 2 flag it: Microsoft says "Trojan", Arctic Wolf says "Unsafe".
  • Scary words, but neither is a known virus. Microsoft's label ends in "!ml". That means machine learning: a robot's guess. It guesses from how the file is built.
  • Why this file? We don't know for sure. Our best guess: it is brand new, and it has no name tag. The name tag is a code-signing certificate. It costs money every year.
  • Microsoft's scanner is also inside Windows. So Windows may warn you, or block the file. That is the same kind of guess, not a new one.
  • If Windows blocks it, nothing got installed. That is OK. Not sure? Ask us on Discord first.
  • Our last version, 1.9.1, got zero flags.
  • Don't just trust us. Open the report, or upload the file yourself and see what the scanners say today.

The fine print, up front

What it changes

  • Your screen's colour, through Windows and your graphics card.
  • The Resolution tab changes your resolution, refresh rate and HDR. A new mode asks you to keep it.
  • The Customize tab changes Windows' own look, like dark mode and the taskbar. These are normal Windows settings for your user, kept in the registry.
  • With a plan, the Monitor page changes your monitor's own brightness and colour.
  • Start with Windows adds PlexusX to your startup list, if you turn it on.
  • Each of these changes only when you use it.
  • The installer adds a plexusx:// link for your user, so a preset on our site can open in the app.

What it never touches

  • It never reads a game's memory.
  • It never changes a game's files.
  • It never puts code into a game, or into any other program.
  • It installs no driver.
  • It installs and runs as your own Windows user, with no admin rights. One repair button can restart it as admin, and Windows asks you first.

How to undo it

  • Switch the colour off, or close the app, and your screen goes back.
  • Switch a Customize setting back, and Windows changes back.
  • Your settings and licence live in two PlexusX folders in your user profile. Uninstalling leaves them, so a reinstall keeps your looks.
  • Delete those two folders to remove every trace.

Data we store

  • Your account holds your email and your licence: its key, plan, end date and PC id.
  • If you use a password, we keep a hash of it, never the password itself.
  • Your PC id is a one-way hash of three details from your PC.
  • It can't be turned back into your computer name or your hardware.
  • When a licence is activated or renewed, the app sends your sign-in or licence key, your PC id and the app's version.
  • While a licence is on your PC, the app also checks in with us about every half hour as it runs.
  • It sends your licence key, your PC id, the app's version and build, and a one-way hash of the program file, so our server can tell the app what your plan unlocks on this PC.
  • It never sends us your settings, your colours, your crash logs, what you play, or anything on your screen.

Payments

  • Sold and licensed by Lucie Uhlířová, trading as PlexusX.
  • Stripe takes the payment as merchant of record. They charge your card and handle any VAT.
  • We never see your card. Your bank statement shows LINK.COM* PLEXUSX.LOL, and your payment receipt comes from Link, Stripe's checkout.
  • Prices are in euro. If the checkout shows you the price in your own currency, that is the amount you pay.
  • Saturation to 300% is free with an account and takes no card. A plan takes a card when you buy.
  • €4.99/month is charged when you subscribe. It renews every month until you stop it, with one button in Dashboard → Billing.
  • €15.99 once never renews, so there is nothing to cancel.

Everywhere it connects

  • Our server, plexusx.lol, for your licence, updates, the Library and the plan check-in.
  • GitHub's public API, api.github.com, for release notes, only if a build shipped without them.
  • Your own PC, 127.0.0.1, for a few minutes while you sign in.
  • Your home network, only while the Phone window is open, so your phone can reach this PC.
  • Your own Discord app on this PC, if it runs, to show PlexusX as your activity.
  • Don't take that on faith. Open Resource Monitor, or run Wireshark or Fiddler, and watch what it talks to.
How PlexusX works

Windows will warn you

  • The installer has no code signature yet, so Windows warns you the first time you run it.
  • It shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen and calls the publisher unknown.
  • That screen is about how well Windows knows us. It is not about anything in the file.
  • The Download button shows you that screen, and the two clicks past it, first.
